Cynthia Zaven discusses her work with curator Basak Senova, published in Ibraaz. Insightful and articulate as always, she talks about her process, which relates to all forms of creative production. The conversation centers on her exquisite Morse Code Composition for flute and accordion. For this piece, she transcribed a William Faulkner quote into Morse code. Alessandra Rombolà on flute and Esteban Algora on accordion performed the composition during Irtijal, the annual experimental music festival in Beirut.
In April, Cynthia presented her most recent work, A Bunker Fairy Tale, at The Project Biennial of Contemporary Art D-0 ARK Underground held in Konjic, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Biennial takes place in Facility D-0, Marshal Tito’s Atomic War Command: a massive underground bunker originally designed to serve as Tito's HQ in the event of nuclear war. The Biennial has transformed Facility D-0 into a permanent exhibition space for contemporary art. It is a formidable project. To learn more about the Biennial and the site, visit their website here.
We are very proud to have Cynthia on the Tramontane team and we will share some of her work on this site very soon.
