"Boulghourjian’s poetic and sensitive debut, which premiered in Cannes’ Critics’ Week, is also a poignant reminder of the role of culture and storytelling in relaying truths and understanding the amnesia that surrounds complex histories." - Elhum Shakerifar

Rana Eid, sound designer of Tramontane, tells us more about her experience. (French)
"Pour retranscrire l’univers du héros qui est aveugle, il y avait réellement un équilibre à trouver entre l’image, le son et la musique. Nous voulions créer une bande son qui soit délicate, calme, à l’image du film qui n’est jamais pathétique ou mélodramatique, et surtout qui laisse la place à la musique et au son."
The Jury for the International Programme at the Pula Film Festival granted a special mention to Tramontane, in Pula, Croatia.
"For the goodness it finds in a complex way and for showing that life can offer sometimes unexpected prospects."
The Festival's eloquent description of the film:
"While searching for his roots across his native Lebanon, a young blind musician and singer named Rabih must struggle through an unexpectedly thick web of half-truths, disinformation, and lies. Composed with sensitivity and imbued with tenderness, this debut from a talented filmmaker offers an unforced invitation to contemplate the identity of the individual within a socio-geographical context. The film premiered in the Critics’ Week at Cannes."
